"Then must you speak
Of one that lov'd not wisely, but too well"
William Shakespeare

One week, the longest in his life. He had barely slept. Instead he had spent the nights reliving the moment with Will Turner. The taste of him was still on James's tongue, the feeling of his hands and his smell on James's skin lingered like marks from a hot iron. Tossing and turning in his bed he had tried to quench his longing. It was such a shameful longing, not appropriate for a man of the fleet. A man of the fleet was strong and capable, always in command. He did not wish for degradation at the hands of another man. Nor did he wish for the other man to use him like a whore, for pleasures condemned by the good book. But James did wish, and fought his wishes desperately, but to no avail.

James resisted for one week and then he could no more. He was back at Will's door and this time he didn't hesitate before knocking, nor did he when the door swung open and Will let him in. James imagined that this was how the Christians in Rome had felt when they walked out on the sand of the Coliseum. Knowing that their lives were about to end and yet not fighting it, accepting their fate for the inevitability it was.

He wasn't sure what kind of reaction he had expected from Turner. He had certainly expected some kind of reaction, not the unmoving look he was given. James felt his face heat and still Turner was silent, just looking at James. Were there surprise in his eyes, James wondered, maybe he hadn't believed James to come back. A small smirk twisted Turner's mouth up.

"You're here again. What do you want this time?" A shiver ran down James's spine. Something dark was dripping in Turner's voice, promising unnamed things, or was that just in James's imagination. He couldn't say the words, hadn't the words for what he wanted.

"You know," James answered.

Turner nodded and turned his back to James. He threw a glance over his shoulder and said "Come on then, I'm not taking you on the floor."

And that was it. A heartbeat, two, and then James walked after him, into the sad excuse of a bedchamber with its sturdy bed. Turner sat on the bed, his shirt was off and his legs spread, waiting. The distance between them was at the most three steps, but it was the longest James had ever walked. After an eternity he stood in front of Will and knelt down between his legs, so close he could feel the body heat radiating from him. James put his hands on Will's chest, to anchor himself, to feel the heartbeat thumping under the smooth skin. He tilted his head slightly to the side. Lovers kissed, didn't they? Close, and a little closer even. The first touch of Will's lips on his own sent a lightning bolt through him. And then he found himself sprawled on his back on the floor. Will had pushed him away.

"Don't touch me like that!" Will's voice was more a snarl than anything else. "You have no right to kiss me."

James tried to get up, his battle instincts kicking in, but before he could, Will's booted foot landed on his chest and pinned him down.

"I will not give you that, my mouth belongs to Jack." Will crouched down, his foot still planted on James's chest. "But I'm willing to give you the rest."

The pressure of Will's foot made his ribs creak and James could smell rum on his breath. The rest, he had a fair image of what the rest was, and by the gods, he wanted it. James nodded.

"Get up on the bed then."

It was the work of only a moment to get out of his clothes. James was glad he had decided to wear civil clothes this eve and not his uniform, which would have taken much longer to divest himself off. Turner only opened his pants to get his cock free, and that would be more than enough for what they were about to do, James realised. There would be no kissing session, or tender moments afterwards, only a fulfilling of needs.

When he saw how hard Turner was he noticed his own straining member. How he had managed to ignore himself until now he didn't understand. Not when he was this hard himself. No matter what objections his conscious mind had against this… tryst, his body had none.

James rested his head on the mattress under him. Will's hands on his behind spread him open. He could barely breathe, if it was with anticipation or fear he could not tell. But nothing could have prepared him for the pain when Will pressed up against him and edged inside. Not his fingers, or the knob of his rapier, not even the candle he had used the other night. Hadn't it been for the strong hands on his hips holding him back he would have crawled away. This was nothing like the fantasies he had had. In those, Will stroked him and petted him and the pleasure had been intense. Not this searing, splitting pain. He was somewhat relieved that he was face down though, so Turner could not see his tears or the blood on his lip where he bit it so not to scream. A man of the fleet did not scream, he suffered silently.

Turner didn't last long, though. James heard him grunt and then he pushed in hard once. And then it was over. Will slumped over his back for a moment and James could feel his harsh breath on the back of his neck. Cool air swept over him when Turner moved and left the bed. He heard rustling of clothes and then his own landed beside him.

"I used oil," he heard Turner say, "you're not bleeding. Get dressed and get out. I would think that your wife is worried about you by now."

James pulled himself from the bed with awkward moves. His entire body ached. The clothes which he had discarded so easily took him minutes to get back on. He didn't look up to meet Turner's eyes, not until he stood by the door. And when he did, he thought that for a brief second he saw regret in Turner's eyes. But then he could almost hear the shields slam in place and the unmoving look was back. James didn't say anything, there was nothing to say really. He just opened the door and left, and this time he didn't look back to see if Will were standing in the door. Commodore Norrington could be accused of many things, but never for being foolish. He would not give Turner the satisfaction of yearning glances and attempts for tenderness again. At least not until the next time he knocked on the blacksmith's door. He was certain that he would, he couldn't help himself. Turner had him snared. The fire was still burning, and James wondered if it would ever be enough.

Will closed the door after James and rested his forehead against it. What had he done? How could he? Use him like that when he didn't even like the man. But Will was lonely. He hadn't had any company since Jack left and it began to wear him down. He was no more than a man after all. And Norrington's moans of pain had made his head spin.

He was not aware of the shadow in the corner, not until it spoke.

"I knew you had steel in ye, luv. But I never thought of ye to be cruel.

There's still left to see what happened during Jack's visit. Don't think it will be too enjoyable though.
